Hi, I’m Nina, a Catholic Mystic aiming to love God above all else and love others as I love myself.
This is Redeeming Home.
I believe in the sacredness of the home, both as a place to seek an intimate relationship with God and a personal refuge to rest and refresh one’s spirit. The home is also a place to create a haven of peace for one’s family, and to offer hospitality to family and strangers alike.
Nowadays, though, the home is treated more like a pit stop, a place to (hopefully) rest over-tired bodies, only to get up in the morning and get back to the grind.
Relationships are no longer being cultivated in the home - kids spend all their time locked in their rooms, staring at screens, while parents check out while staring at the TV or scrolling on Instagram. And there’s no hospitality - who has time for that?
Ironically, so much of the hours spent outside the home are to make enough money to pay for the mortgage and fill the house with meaningless stuff.
It’s time to redeem the home - to turn back to that which makes the home sacred.
Here you’ll find a mix of practical tips and musings on seeking God, cultivating meaningful relationships, hospitality, and living simply and intentionally.
There will be no “Live, Laugh, Love” signs.
There will probably be cussing.
And I will definitely post the occasional picture of my miniature horse, Simone, a guest favorite at my home.
Thank you for stopping by my new home on the interwebs. You are welcome here.
